Say hello to Scooby!
Scooby is a 9 lb, (almost) 3 yr old, red long-haired, neutered male Dachshund .... and what a sweetheart! He LOVES his human(s), LOVES to cuddle, LOVES to be held! They really don't get more angelic or sweeter than this little boy. He is low key, on the quiet, reserved side and will be a 'velcro' dog ... he wants to be right where his human is. Right now, he appears to have a touch of separation anxiety as well as general anxiety, but we believe this will decrease or go away totally once he establishes trust with his new caregiver(s), as he gets more structure and stability in his new life.
Scooby would be perfectly fine as an only dog or one of two but with his need to be the center of his human’s life, there will not be much room for sharing affection. And as sweet as this boy is, he may not be for everyone in that he would not be happy in a noisy or chaotic household nor in a household where he’s left alone for extended periods of time (such as humans who leave for work every day). Scooby will need a quieter home where routine is the norm. Scooby is crate trained but he will not be happy having to be in one for extended periods of time such as to sleep or to stay in one all day long while his human works outside the home.
With a bit of socialization, Scooby could make an absolutely awesome emotional support dog! There is not an ounce of aggression in him. When at the vet’s office this week, he was an absolute gentleman and gave no objection to anyone about anything.
