Snowbird is a beautiful 12 pound, 11-year-old longhaired dapple Dachshund who came to CCDR because of her owner’s declining health. She came to CCDR with 5 of her siblings and especially enjoys the company of her sister (Whisper). Snowbird has received a clean bill of health from our veterinarian, so she is now ready for her new home. 

In addition to getting spayed since she arrived at CCDR, Snowbird was brought up to date on basic vaccines (rabies, DHPP), given heartworm/tick and fecal tests (all negative), had a complete senior blood panel, and dental cleaning. Snowbird had most of her remaining teeth removed which is why her tongue hangs out … a lot! We like to call that “part of her charm.” In spite of her lack of teeth, Snowbird has no problem eating and Doc says she is in great shape! 

Snowbird is a sweet, affectionate and comical little girl who loves her belly rubs. She loves people and gets along great with other dogs and cats. She loves having a cuddle buddy. Because of her age, we think it best that she goes to a quiet home where routine is the norm and that her new home have at least one other dog. Snowbird has never known life as an only dog and hasn’t grown up around small children and we don’t feel as though she should have to learn to deal with those variables at her age. 

Snowbird is house trained and is pee-pad trained. She has no problems eating but her foster home does have her on a diet that is easy for her to chew. She loves sunbathing and just hanging out in the fenced yard with her foster family, exploring the large garden. Snowbird will get lots of exercise following her human around, but she isn’t one of those Velcro dogs who follows you everywhere.
