Meet Olivia!   

In July 2023, Olivia was rescued from a hoarding situation along with close to 200 other dogs. Almost all of the dogs from that horrible situation were adopted out, but Olivia was one of five dogs who were still at the shelter 8+ months later. Olivia was released to Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue so we can make better progress with her in a private foster home, in hopes of eventually finding her a forever home.   

Olivia has a lot of fear and trust issues to overcome, but she is making great progress in her first few weeks with us. We understand that her progress could be slow and we have placed her in a foster home who has extensive experience in working with feral dogs and their behavior modification.   

Olivia quickly bonded with the other dog in her foster home. She keeps her distance from humans in the house, although she will get within a few feet on occasion and is cautiously approaching for treats. Most of the time, Olivia stays on the sidelines, calmly and intently observing what is going on. She appears interested, but we understand that it takes a lot of courage for her to make the slightest approaches.   

We are not currently processing applications for Olivia since we know she has a long way to go until she is ready for adoption but we'd like to show her on the website in case her "future perfect home" is out there. Olivia will determine her timeline based on the progress she is making, but we will keep her in foster care as long as she needs.
