Meet Damaris, Mari for short. Mari came to CCDR in November of this year and was surrendered because her previous caregiver went into a nursing home. Mari is a 15 yr old, black and tan, spayed female. She is deaf, almost totally blind, has dementia, a heart murmur and numerous lipomas. In spite of Mari's health issues, she is a sweet soul who loves everyone she meets ... K9 or feline, humans old, young or in between. She has a tenacious spirit, a kind spirit .... a spirit that is full of life! Initially, Mari needed some help navigating her foster home's layout but now, using her great sense of smell, she can find her way around most of the time unassisted. There are times, mainly upon awakening from sleep, that Mari needs a few minutes to get her bearings. At those times, she may require assistance from her caregiver to find her way outside to potty and/or back inside to get her yummy treat. 

Mari's foster home is improving Mari’s health with a holistic lifestyle. She is being fed a home-made diet and receiving supplements in her food as well as drops in her eyes and ears. It is our hope that by supporting Mari with these enhancements to her daily regimen, that some of her health issues will improve or be removed entirely. Mari is not yet ready for adoption as she will need a dental, but she will hopefully be ready in a month or two, as her health continues to improve.
