Meet Lizzy! Lizzy is an affectionate 14-lb, 11 year old little girl whose previous caregiver passed away, so Lizzy is on a quest to find her new home. To put it simply, Lizzy is “all Dachshund.” That means that Lizzy is opinionated, stubborn and cantankerous…she’s hardheaded, strong-willed and tenacious…and we certainly can’t leave out that she’s independent! And we mention those qualities in the best way. This little gal is a hoot! You will never be bored with Lizzy as a companion. She will keep you laughing and amused. Although she gets along great with other dogs, she would much sooner be with her human(s) and loves to follow her person from room to room all day long. Lizzy would be a great companion for a stay-at home person(s), a home-bound person, or to someone who can take their dog along to work. She leans toward having separation anxiety and will sometimes bark when she is not able to see her human.
Lizzy is house trained but not pee-pad trained (yet). She will let you know if she has to potty in between normal potty times. Lizzy is harness trained and she loves to take a short walk with her human, smelling all that there is to smell along the way. Lizzy does not do steps or ramps to and from the furniture, although her foster family is working on this. For now, if you want her to join you on the recliner to watch TV or to have her join you in bed to sleep, you will need to put her on and take her off of furniture. And Lizzy does have a prey-drive so her new home should not have cats and/or small critters. Interestingly, she does not chase squirrels and birds when she is outside.
Lizzy is in wonderful shape as determined by her recent physical. She did test positive for Lyme’s and is being treated, although she shows no symptoms. Lizzy will be getting a dental cleaning prior to adoption. If you or your family are looking for a quirky, devoted, senior companion with a big personality, look no further. Lizzy is your girl!
