Special Tributes to Special CCDR Dogs
It is never easy to let go or to say goodbye to a beloved pet but when our rescues or fosters leave us, we want to say a special "good bye" to them and have them forever in our thoughts. They went through a lot and while they did not end up leaving with their original family, they went to either new homes and new families or remained in foster care where they were very much loved as if they had always been there from day one. We pay tribute to those who were CCDR dogs. To have your CCDR dog remembered, please send a picture and a brief paragraph to Joni@camelotc.com. Include the year of birth  and year of loss. Paragraphs will be edited if they are too long. Include your name and if you'd like visitors to email you.
Trixie - 1990 - 2007
Trixie was left in the drop box at the local shelter by family when her owner died. This is all too often the case with seniors. It is very obvious Trixie was very much loved by her owner though! She had mammary cancer, cataracts and a serious heart condition when she came into foster care. Her age and blood work showed it was too risky to put her through surgery due to her heart so, she lived her life in foster care until the ripe age of 17. Rest in peace Trixie.
Charley -  1990 - 2007
Isn't 'Charley' one of the cutest seniors you've ever seen? He was one of many pets abandoned and lost after Hurricane Charley in Florida in 2004. He was found wandering a busy road. His owners were never found and given this sweet boy's demeanor he was well loved by his former owner. All you needed to do was walk near him and he would promptly lay down and rollover for a belly rub. He was deaf and both eyes had cataracts, but that didn't slow him down to finding his food bowl and treats. We guess he is 17 yrs, could be older. Rest in peace Charley.
Sparky - 1995-2006
Sparky lived as a breeder in a puppy mill for 5 years. He was blind from PRA but was still forced to breed until he was no longer considered valuable due to health issues and damaged feet from the wire cage he lived in. He was rescued when he was 5 years old and lived the rest of his life in comfort and a house of love. His happy attitude and "I've never met a stranger I didn't like" greetings will be missed for sure. Rest my friend, for you were a pleasure to know.
Oscar Wade - 1991-2006
Oscar, my handsome boy, came into my life in June of 1991 and went to the Bridge June 24, 2006. I was blessed to share his life with mine for so many years. I sorely miss his silly blitzing around the house with his squeaky hamburger. And how I miss his sweet warm kisses; forever in my heart while he waits for me at the Bridge. Judy

When Winnie arrived at her new foster home June 9, 2002, she was partially paralyzed and overweight at 21 lbs. Although she could intermittently hobble (with one leg dragging behind her), for the most part, she could not walk on her own. It was during those frequent times when Winnie had no choice but to literally drag her butt across the floor in order to get around.
Queenie was one of the Selma Puppy Mill dogs that was rescued. Her physical condition was poor, and yet her love for life was profound. Queenie's battle to survive ended in December, 2000 after a valiant effort on her own as well as those who loved her. Rest safely Queenie. Your short time in freedom made many loyal to you.
This is a picture of Little Grace.  Although she was only four months old when she passed on to the Rainbow Bridge, she was very loved.  She tried so hard to live, but her little body was not healthy enough to survive due to poor breeding and genetic abnormalities. Grace did not get to enjoy life as a 4 month old puppy should, but while with her foster mom, she lived as her name said, 'with grace." I will miss her sweetness. Rest peacefully sweet Grace.
