Success Story
DJ and Ginger

Thank you Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue for allowing us to have the two wonder doxies that we adopted in 2001!  We enjoy your newsletters and pictures/stories from others who have had this wonderful experience.

We were "looking" for a dog and our daughter found these two wonderful animals through your website.  The young couple (at least young to us) had them since DJ was born in Fort Worth, TX in 1992 and Ginger was born in Kaiserlautern County, Germany in 1994...the doggies were their babies.  Unfortunately their next tour of duty with the Air Force was taking them to Korea (not the best place to take doggies from what I understand).  They had no family to take them, and most people were not interested in adopting "older dogs" let alone "two who had been together all of their lives".

We met DJ and Ginger and immediately fell in love with them . . . not that we really wanted TWO dogs but figured we could handle it, even though a large part of our year is spent traveling to craft shows in a motor home.

To say the least they are "soul brother and sister" - walking together, playing together, and sleeping together.  And they have adapted beautifully to our "crazy" life-style . . . when the motor home comes out of the garage they go bonkers till they are inside.

DJ still loves to get into trash cans and/or garbage cans...so we have used baby locks on all of our kitchen cabinets!  He even managed to open kitchen drawers to make himself stairs to get on the kitchen counter before we "puppy proofed" it!

The picture attached shows the two beautiful long-haired pair (DJ on the left is a black & tan male - Ginger is a red female).

When the day comes that one of them passes on we will definitely be adopting another . . . one doesn't do it . . . two does!
