Success Story
Ziggy
I
want to thank CCDR for the opportunity to adopt Ziggy. We purchased a short
hair mini for my father after his Newfie died of natural causes. Wanting
to downsize in dogs my father saw a feisty little miniature Dachshund at
a dog show. He was smitten. My wife and I located a breeder and purchased
4-month-old puppy that my father promptly named Fritz. It was love at first
sight. My wife and I wanting a dog for some time and seeing how great doxies
are had to have one too. Returning to the same breeder we purchased our
red longhair Henry. He is a wonderful dog and perfect companion.
Learning that many Dox owners had two dogs we thought Henry would like
a friend to play with. So we decided to get a second dog. I spoke with
a friend at work who recommended rescuing instead of going to the breeder.
After some poking around on the web I located CCDR and the rest is history.
Seeing
Ziggy on the CCDR site I immediately knew he was the one and quickly applied
to adopt him. Once we had our home inspection and the adoption approved
I flew from Seattle to Colorado to pick Ziggy up. Karin the CCDR rep in
Ft. Collins was great and helped make the process go very smoothly. Ziggy
has been a dream dog ever since. He and Henry have become brothers. And
whether running in the yard or playing tug of war they are never very far
apart. Adopting Ziggy brought twice the joy to us and gave Henry a best
friend. Their personalities are very different but they mesh well together.
Henry plays the aloof movie star while Ziggy is all about being held and
petted. CCDR saved an amazing little dog in Ziggy and showed us both that
there is no need to go to a breeder to get a wonderful dog and great companion.
Thanks to CCDR for all you do saving Dachshunds in need.
