Success Story

Lacy

When our bulldog Gus had to be put to sleep we were so sad I cried every day.  After a week of seeing me cry my husband went online and found a dachsund rescue organization.  Coast to Coast.  I had grown up with Doxies all my life and he knew that I wanted our next dog to be one.  I told him I wasn’t ready to get another dog yet….he said just take a look at the one named Lacey we don’t have to get her.

He went to bed,  I went online and it was all she wrote!  I filled out the adoption form and we pleaded to get her as soon as we could.  Angela Duck was wonderful in expediting our home visit by Diane Irwin whom we just loved!  She came out the next day and the very NEXT day after that we jumped in our truck and went to Nashville to get our Lacey.  I was so excited I think I cried.

She had submissive urination issues due to some verbal abuse and we heard the previous owners had brought her to C2C because they couldn’t “train her” to stop.  Within a week Lacey was trained and her submissive urination only happens when she gets sooo excited at a new visitor.  Otherwise she is a perfectly trained dog.  She loves to go to the 900 acre farm in Kentucky and run run run!  She also loves to sleep in the bed under the sheets with her parents.  She wraps herself around our necks like a muffler…and just moans.  This is how she lets us know she is happy.  She has two cats for sisters and she loves to play with them…but they are not sure about playing with her yet!  We couldn’t have asked for a better more lovable dog….there are times we just lay and kiss her and hug her until she can’t stand us anymore and runs off to play.

She also loves Petsmart too so sometimes we just go to walk around and talk to other dogs.  We can tell she was well cared for in her foster home.  Everyone tells us Lacey hit the doggie lotto by landing in our family…but we know WE are the lucky ones to forever have her in our lives.

Soon it will be time for her to have a friend……
