Success Story

Ernie

My name is Ernie and I am a 12-year old dachshund.  Many months ago my owner died and I was put out onto the street.  After a few weeks of rummaging through garbage I was rescued and driven to Knoxville, TN.  I was dropped off at my new foster home and I was relieved to have real dog food and a nice warm people bed to sleep in.  I had some tumors and rotten teeth but we quickly took care of all that.

Despite my age, I started to feel like a young puppy again.  I played a lot, gave lots of kisses, and ate everything I could get my paws on (I even found some chewing gum in the floor of the car… cinnamon I think).  After a few months of fostering me, my new mom and I had a heart to heart.  She asked me if I wanted to stay with her forever and I got so excited.  I knew she wouldn’t be able to give me up because I was too cute.  So now I live in nice home with lots of fun animals.  It is a good thing I am deaf because all those pet birds would drive me crazy!    My new mom bought me lots of toys, chew bones, and a new bed.  Here's a picture of me standing on my favorite toy, a red star.  I am so very happy!
