Miss Belle came from a small dachshund rescue organization in South Dakota. Miss Belle began having back problems in August of 2005 where she could walk, but not well. She was able to control her bodily functions though, which was a positive thing when you have a back issue.  Because the rescue organization didn't have the funding for surgery or a clinic that could accomplish this type of surgery, the rescue group surrendered her to a foster home who was willing to help Southern Belle and attend to her special needs. The foster mom, Beth, loved her dearly but felt Belle needed more than she could offer and made the hard decision to find a rescue group willing to help. Beth went on line and found CCDR. CCDR agreed to take her on and pay for back surgery hoping that it would improve her quality of life.  

Miss Belle arrived in TN in the middle of April, 2006, went straight to Montgomery, AL to Carriage Hills Animal Hospital and to a wonderful vet named Dr Bill Van Hooser who specializes in back surgeries.  Belle had the surgery she needed and after some rehab returned to her new foster mom in TN.  Belle's recovery is slow but she is getting stronger every day, has more control every day, and walks better every day.  She still has a way to go but the love she gives makes up for it all.  She is such a sweet little gal and deserves the best that we can offer her.  She is a true "Southern Belle" and smiles when you tell her to kiss you!  This special little girl has traveled a great distance and been in a number of places to get to where she is today.  We thank you for any support you can give towards her surgical and recovery costs.

Any donation is a dollar closer to trying to offset the high vetting costs that we've accrued though a number of dogs who've needed back surgery lately. We don't ever want to turn a dog down for not having the funds so it's through the kindness of the public that we're able to continue helping dogs like Southern Belle when they need us.
