My back has bothered me for years but my former owner could not afford to pay to have for surgery so abandoned me.  A kind person found me and brought me to a shelter but sadly it was one of those "kill type" shelters. When the shelter found out about my back they were going to send me to the bridge as fixing my back was more costly than their budget allowed.  Thankfully the shelter did know about Dachshund Rescue I was soon in a foster home. 

My foster Mom fell in love with me at first sight because I am a friendly, happy, sweet and loving little fellow. On top of all those good qualities I gave her one of THOSE LOOKS  (you Dachsies and Dachsie owners know what THOSE LOOKS are as they work every time) and that melted her heart.

My foster mom got the Okay from CCDR to take me for an assessment and the vet said I needed an operation so CCDR came to the rescue.

I had my surgery and a had a herniated disk fixed. I am enjoying recovery with the yummy food I am getting and am now on the mend. Unfortunately all of this medical work caused one heavy vet bill.  This worried my foster Mom as she knew that CCDR could not really afford a whopping big bill like that at his time. Someone gave her the email address for the JRC Dachshunds in Need Auction Team (J. R. #1 and Mr. Claudius) and asked the guys to run some auctions to try to cover some of the cost of my surgery. The auctions have been a terrific help but we still have a high vet bill to cover. If you feel you can donate a little, it all goes to a good cause so dogs like me get a second chance. So many of us are abandoned by the people we thought we trusted. We don't understand why they do it because all we know is we loved a person and found that person didn't love us enough to take care of us. Thank goodness for rescue because that is where we know we will be cared for and never abandoned again.
