| April 2006 |
Ross is a 12
year old male who was rescued in April from living in a puppymill as a
breeder. He was obtained from a dog auction in Cabool, MO where he and
4 others were rescued. The person who rescued Ross was actually in a bidding
war with a puppymiller that was going to use him to breed with another
lonhaired she bought earlier that day and after the sale, continued to
try and purchase him.
When Ross was taken to the vet to have a thorough check up it was found that Ross was heart worm positive. He also had to have every tooth in his mouth removed surgically and had 2 oro/nasal fistula's (a hole that goes from his gum up thru his nasal cavity) repaired. Ross' dental expenses alone has run over $1500.00. The surgeon had to put some bone material in his jaw to keep it from breaking due to the bone loss. It is horrible to to think about how much pain he would still be in if he hadn't been rescued and gotten his dental problems taken care of. The miller didn't think enough of him to give him the ivermectin to prevent the heart worms. Ross is now a totally new dog since he is no longer in pain from the bad teeth and gums. He still has his heartworm treatment to endure but is loving every minute of his new found freedom with his other foster brothers and sisters. He no longer acts like a grumpy old man but more like a young puppy! He loves to sunbathe outside, uses a doggie door, is enjoying eating the soft canned food and treats. He loves to get on the big bed and take naps with some of his foster brothers and sisters but for some reason likes to sleep under the bed at night. Once Ross has finished with all of his treatments, his total vetting costs will be around $2200.00. If you would like to adopt Ross, please fill out an application or if you'd like to sponsor Ross, every dime will be very much appreciated!!!! |
