![]() Heidi's story: Heidi is a black and tan 8-10 year old standard dachshund who was dumped at a kill shelter in central Ohio. Her previous owners left little information about her, other than that they could no longer care for her. With the high number of young dogs and puppiess that enter the shelter daily, Heidi had little chance of finding a home. Seeing her potential for having many years of life and love ahead, CCDR rescued her from her sad fate. Though it took time and many tests, Heidi was eventually diagnosed with Cushings, a disease that effects the pituitary gland. This means that Heidi will face many more months of treatment to get her condition stabilized. Currently, she is quite overweight and has excessive thirst and hunger. These typical signs of Cushings will lessen once her treatment is complete. Heidi is a very special girl who loves attention. She is especially fond of her tennis ball, which she fetches and then pushes with her nose to whoever will push it back. Once Heidi is back to health, she will make a wonderful little companion for a lucky family. Can you please help Heidi overcome her illness so she has another chance at a happy life?
