Membership Information
Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue is always looking for compassionate and responsible people who will work with the public to help solve the increasing problem of dogs needing homes and for helping to foster and rehome the Dachshund and Dachshund mixes that are in shelters, are owner turn-ins, abandoned, retrieved from puppy mills or seized from inhumane living conditions. As a member, you will represent CCDR and be helping to educate the public on the importance of altering  your pets to minimize the over population of unwanted animals as well as promoting responsible dog care.

If you are interested in becoming a member you must fill out an application for membership. All new members start off as an associate member where they complete a 4 month internship before they are invited to become a member of CCDR with full membership privileges. This learning time frame allows you to get to know CCDR and the world of rescue as well as allows CCDR to get to know you. As an associate member, you will work under an established CCDR member who then guides you through the processes that occur in rescue. The application goes to our membership committee, who will process it, check references and set up a home visit. our membership committee will be happy to discuss membership with you. All applicants must fill out a membership application. The membership form will ask for your personal information (home address, phone number etc.) but will also ask for references and a veterinarian's name that we check via phone. All applicants must go through the same procedure as our foster homes or adopters and have a home check so that we may determine that your home is safe and dog safe for any dachshund or dachshund mix that you obtain for CCDR. Membership fees are $30.00/year and are to be paid after the 4 month internship and after your membership request is reviewed and approved by the membership committee..

To be eligible for a membership you must fill out an application. If you are being sponsored by a current member in good standing, that member will sign your membership application endorsing you. If you do not have a sponsor, fill out the application in it's entirety and submit it to the membership committee. The application will be processed and if accepted you will be brought in on an intership for 4 months and be assigned a mentor. You will have the privledges of a full member except you will not be able to formally adopt any dog out or complete a contract for CCDR. You may however, foster, fundraise, transport or volunteer for CCDR needs. You will have access to our discussion list allowing you to see and experience what goes on in the organization. We truly know that many good people are out there wanting to help and we are happy to have them as a part of our organization's family.

To fill out an associate membership application that will go to our membership committee, click here. Once this is received by the committee they will process it, check references and set up a home visit. You will then be notified of your status and if approved to be an associate member you will be assigned a mentor. Your mentor will be a person who has been with CCDR long enough to know how procedures are done and how to answer most questions. They will guide you through the steps of rescue within CCDR and answer questions you may have. Your internship will allow you to foster for CCDR, do transports, help fundraise and perform other volunteer services, but, until you have completed your 4 month internship and been invited to join CCDR as a member, you will not process any applications or fill out any contracts. If you foster a dog that has an adoption application on them, your mentor will be responsible for formal paperwork procedures and will advise you of the process in it's entirety to familiarize you with the proper procedure.

Another very important factor that determines eligibility for memberhip is to be an active associate member. CCDR has a yahoo list that you will be subbed to and it will be important for you to participate so your mentor and other members get to meet you. Your mentor will keep in touch with you privately and guide you by asking questions of you or answering questions you may have. It is very important to participate while in your internship so your mentor and other members get to know you. Upon completing your internship the decision of acceptance will be determined by your mentor and the membership committee as well as your participation within CCDR. CCDR reserves all rights to offer a membership to an applicant.

If you have any questions before starting the process, feel free to contact our membership committee. They will be happy to answer your questions.
